Local people believes in Mazu, an ocean goddess who protects fishmen and boats.
The ancient Mazu temple situated in the oldest town, Lugan.
Mazu Temple in Lugan is the spiritual heart of Lugan, and every year, the goddess has a tour around Taiwan, which is a hugest thing and traditional religious event Taiwan people.
It’s a place where generations of locals have come to seek good fortune, peace and health.

The street right before the Mazu temple is also famous, people could try all kinds go authentic street food there.
Definitely try seasoned millet mush (麵茶) and ice seasoned millet mush (麵茶冰) of Doanghua store.
Really recommend, authentic, traditional and local delicious dessert.
This is kinda our childhood dessert and I visited Doanghua store (東華麵茶) every time I visited Lugan.

If you would like to stay 1-2 days in Lugan (which I really recommend) , GH House is a wonderful choice for you.
Located near by the Mazu temple, the room is clean and the space is open, the host is also kind and hospitable.
I also had a really nice dessert in GH cafe, had a wonderful noon with my family.
So if you have chance to come Changhua, don't forget to visit the ancient Mazu temple in Lugan.
